Ultimate Ears, now a Logitech company, is well known in the audio industry for producing some of the best custom molded in-ear monitors that money can buy. It should come as no surprise that they've recently introduced the UE Fits, the world's first pair of true wireless earbuds featuring a custom, at home fit kit. The UE Fits utilize their patented Lightform technology and heat-sensitive gel-infused ear molds to produce a custom, molded ear tip that fits the unique contours of your individual ears. The seal you get from these custom molds blocks most outside noise and greatly enhances the overall sound quality. These aren't going to net you the same fit and sound of something like UE's CSX line but it's as close as you're going to get without paying professional custom in-ear prices.

The Molding Process
UE's companion iOS/Android app guides you through the entire 60 second molding process. Special LED lights fitted inside the molds heat up a light-sensitive gel that quickly softens and allows the molds to create a perfect imprint of your inner ear. Once the LEDs are shut off, the gel quickly hardens and you have your custom molds. The app will then test each mold to ensure that everything went properly. Unfortunately, you cannot repeat the process, so if you think you might have messed something up you'll have to purchase a new mold kit. However, the likelihood of that happening is pretty slim.
Touch controls on the Fits are what you would expect. Multiple touch parameters can be customized using the UE app. Controls are available on both ear stems and allow you to increase or decrease volume, answer or end calls, change, pause, and play songs, engage Siri or Google Assistant, and much more.
The UE FITS are equipped with premium, custom-tuned, single dynamic 10mm drivers. Impressive considering most true wireless manufacturers settle for drivers in the 5-8mm range. These drivers have been fine-tuned by UE acoustic engineers to provide the best possible listening experience. UE has described the sound of the Fits as full, warm, detailed, and with a deep, tight, and punchy bass. If the sound quality of the Fits isn't quite what you'd like, you can change it by customizing things via a pretty beefy sound equalizer found in the UE app.
Not much is known at the moment regarding call quality. However, we do know that UE has strategically positioned multiple microphones on the earbuds to reduce wind noise and ensure crystal-clear call quality.
The Ultimate Ears Fits might not have active noise cancelling or all of the latest and greatest features, but it looks to make up for that with a unique, custom molding process, large dynamic drivers, and the ability to customize the sound as you see fit. The UE Fits are available now for $250.
Look for a full, in-depth review some time in the near future.
